Lost Memories

The days we had
of laughter and joy
will kill me inside
you will never know
what pain I went through
and still truly do
So I will smile and say
“It’s O.K. I’m over to.
Go on and see the
one you love.”
The lie will be here
in my head
It’s so clear now
I want you to smile
like you did before
but you don’t feel
the way you did
I will wonder and ask
“Was this ever real?
Was this meant to last?”
This will run through my mind
losing hope and losing fate
you just don’t care
about the memories we’ve made
