Do You Believe in Me?

I've stumbled, I've fallen, I've turned away.
I've cried, I've complained, and forgot to pray.
Your response, if questioned, what would it be
If I asked, Lord...do You believe in me?

I have pouted, sulked and stomped on my feet.
I've screamed and I've wailed, not admitting defeat.
I've wondered, Your patience, as You gaze down on me...
if questioned, the answer...what would it be?

I've turned and I've walked the path far from You.
I've hid in the shadows, yet what did You do?
You reached down to rescue, each time I would plea...
I'm asking, dear Lord...still believe in me?

At times, I'm not broken, I lean on myself.
I put up my Bible, alone on the shelf.
I tuned out Your voice, and set myself free...
What keeps You still reaching Your hand out to me?

Fools come in all sizes, I'm sure that You know;
I'm living proof, of a fool You could show.
But what is Your reason, what do You see
in this wretched, poor sinner I simply call me?

Your answer, when questioned, is loving and sweet.

Yes, I believe, in the promise of you...
I see past the tantrums, the things that you do..."
