Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
"Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked 'round and he's gone."

-Abraham, Martin, and John - Dion

From Atlanta to Memphis
his star burned bright,
snuffed out too soon,
but isn't that the way
of truly good and Godly Men?

He only trod the earth
for 39 years
but his legacy lasts forever.
Isn't that the way
of truly Godly Men?

From the pulpit as a Baptist Minister,
he heard a greater calling,
a voice in a hate filled wilderness.
He heeded the message
and gave all, including his life.
Isn't that the way
of committed Godly Men.

When blacks had to ride
in the backs of Birmingham buses
he organized a boycott,
standing for what was right.
Helping others is the way
of righteous, Godly Men.

"I have a dream," rolled forth
to the million men marching
upon Washington in 1963.
Ministering to the masses
is the way of Godly Men.

The Nobel Prize for peace
was given to Dr. King.
He was the youngest in history.
Notice and acclaim
are hard won by Godly Men.

He championed the rights
of the poor and down trodden.
Lifting others up
is the legacy of Godly Men.

A crusader for peace,
from the pulpit
He sought an end to
the ongoing Vietnam War.
Peace for all
is the prayer of Godly Men.

Shots rang out in a Memphis night.
Hate extinguished
Martin Luther King Jr.'s light,
but we will never
forget the message
of this Godly Man.

We the people have come a long way
since that hot Atlanta day
when the baby King was born.
I pray that we truly have
love, peace and total equality one day.
For Dr. King's vision I pray.
One day we all shall stand,
among the ranks of Godly Men.

Anybody here seen my old friend Martin?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
He freed a lot of people,
But it seems the good they die young.
I just looked 'round and he's gone.

Didn't you love the things that they stood for?
Didn't they try to find some good for you and me?
And we'll be free
Some day soon, and it's a-gonna be one day ...
