Daily Flash Fiction: 300 words w/ "Are you sure you weren't followed?"
"Are you sure you weren't followed?"

The look on his face said it all, "No?!"

"You mean you weren't followed or your not sure if you were followed?"

"I didn't know I was supposed to be looking!"

"Shhhh!! What part of 'secret meeting' confused you?"

The man and woman stood outside the steps of a local restaurant. A noontime crowd bustled by, no one meeting the searching looks of the woman.

"Do you want me to go back and come here again, and make sure I'm not followed? Do I look backwards at random times? Duck into stores and take the back exits? Stare into windows and look for the same person? I'm an engineer Melinda, not 007."

"I'm sorry Stan, I just don't want anyone to know!"

"Well passing me a note in the middle of the presentation looked a little odd I thought. We've got the lunch break to do whatever we want." He moved closer to her, raising his hand to her hair...

"Not 'til we're inside!" One last look around and she took his hand and took the stairs two at a time, opening the door and pushing him through as she took a last look at the passersby.

As Stan took his eyes off Melinda he noticed the interior and the odors coming from the kitchen. He looked into her eyes, his breathing getting heavier, "Melinda... you're a vegetarian! This is a steak house!"

"Ten years without is enough, Stan, I need meat! And I want to share my first time with you!"

Stan took it all in and just smiled. They were going to be late to the afternoon session.
