the beauty of nature visits us once in a while
            Pssss!  Pssss!  Come Here!

    Pssss!  Pssss!
Every few seconds I hear this soft sound.
Where is that sound coming from?
    Pssss!  Pssss!
This time I got up and looked out my door into the hall.
My daughter was beckoning me to come where she was standing.  She was looking out the sliding glass doors.  The doors took up the whole of the wall; this was nice, they gave a lovely Winter's view of the out of doors.
My mouth was a perfect circle, with the explanation ready to come out when my daughter said,  "Sh!", very quietly.
"Look!"  as she was pointing to the glass doors.
I was stunned to see this enormous Owl!  It was setting on the rail atop where the bird feeders hung.
At one time there use to be four poles in all, used for my clothes line.  Until one day I came home, looked out my kitchen window,I could only see one pole.
Talk about an optical illusion.  Laughing out loud, with only me here that day, oh something is wrong here.  I looked again, there was only one pole left standing.
      Yikes!
Later I found who had taken down my clothes line.  Grrrr!
Sue, my daughter, had hung an elastic string with a  mouse that dangled at the end just above the doors for the cats to play with inside.
The cats would think, "Oh I got me a mouse!"
Start to walk off with it in their mouth and it would snap out as quick, smiling at their antics as it sailed by and hit the window.
The cats would play with that silly white mouse for a while, then walk off frustrated.  Smiling here, but they would come back trying to ambush it another time.
The mouse was still hanging on the elastic string.
This huge owl sat there, watching us as we watched him.
We would move left and his head would turn to see where we would go; he would follow us, just turning his head.
We were laughing.  I walked into the kitchen and looked out the window there, as he caught sight of me, he watched every move I made.
Probably thinking, "You can move, but I still see you!"
Sue sat down in her computer chair, keeping an eye on him.
Laughing for sure, this was fascinating to us.
Neither of us has ever seen such a beautiful huge Owl.
Then all of a sudden he spreads his wings, oh my word, were they long.
They stretched and then without warning he took
flight!
      Right for the window!
Oh good grief !  He is going to hit the window!  oh no!
He came within inches and just swooped right up clearing the glass by a feather's breadth.
Laughing and oh-ing, we looked at each other wondering why
on earth would he do that.
Then someone came in and we told them what had happened.
"Well, give him a mouse to try for, what do you expect,"  laughingly they replied.
        Yup!
