Halloween dream walk gone bad
Fun from a dream for All Hallows Eve

I went for a walk in the wood the other night
Uneasy it was, filled with foreboding
The chill in the air spoke of unsettling thought
And doubts gnawed at my mind

Rabbit screamed, terror in death
Raging against the silent winged messenger
That delivered it abruptly
The entire forest seemed to press closely
Taking in audible sustenance

I begged my ears to close, my eyes to not see
Twas in vain, too late by then
And my nose rebelled, sickened by stench of blood
Such fear, staining my soul
I felt the wood close in, focused
Hungry for the kill

Fright...yes….sheer fright finally moved me
Wicked wooden fingers slapped, tried to hold
Root and stone reached to trip
As I raced headlong, blindly
Searching for a way

Where was the bridge, the path
I had started on centuries before
A splash intruded, not quite right
My heart exploded, hammering wildly
As I shot down a different way

There, my mind screamed, pointing, the edge of the stream
Adding fuel to adrenaline, bursting forward
Then the Shadow rose up
Towering up over me, blocking the bridge
I skidded to a stop, insane with panic

A massive claw reached slowly down
Enveloping me, encircling me
My seeming last thought before being crushed
Was to wonder what the hell Is Trick or Treat
When you’re the Treat

I startled awake, sweat running freely
Dripping from my face
Good God, I thought
Never again pizza before bed
Then I froze………….
Staring directly at me were 2 red rimmed ghostly eyes
AAAAAHHHH NONONONONONONO
