DEMON'S NIGHT

Dark as the pit from which the demons crawl,
oozing with slime and hideous inhuman call,
the night lingers as the ravens cry out in vain.
What manner of thought lies inside the brain?

Unseen hands reach out and touch the skin
and brings the terror of the unknown right in.
We choose to celebrate this clammy sight,
calling it Halloween or simply Demon's Night.

I think that I would choose to have some fun
with the trick or treaters, who knock and run.
They come around in some ghostly dress
to scare all the old folks who try to guess

who is behind the costume and scary mask,
and pass out candy treats to the very last.
But, what if, when the doorbell rings again,
it's really a demon that wants to come in?

Dark as the pit from which the demons crawl,
oozing with slime and hideous inhuman call,
the night lingers as the ravens cry out in vain.
What manner of thought lies inside the brain?
