A lament on the nature of creativity.
O! Coleridge and your Kubla Khan
The very voice of inspiration,
As hard as it is to transcribe
The music in my head
Harder still to improve
On what inspired this creation:
A Salieri to a Mozart,
A simple picture to a work of art.
I desire to uniquely recreate
To pioneer, only centuries late.
What wakes me from my slumber
To expand on an idea
Clouds of waking memory
Make everything so unclear
Make it slowly disappear
Til you doubt it was ever there.
