This is an essay about what I am thankful fr.
Rain, snow, fires, or explosions, the soldiers of America strive on. They know there are many risks in fighting for our country, yet they are brave and don’t give up. So this Thanksgiving, I am sending all of my thanks across the seas to them. Without their courage, determination, and sacrifices, I don’t know how the United States would survive. These kind-hearted soldiers deserve all of the appreciation that is available and that is exactly what I aim to accomplish.

Imagine waking up to gunshots close by. It’s a terrifying image isn’t it? American soldiers off on missions in different countries have to face this situation every single day. They know that just by leaving their base they are at risk of getting killed. Most people would probably run away screaming if they knew that their lives were in danger but not our soldiers. They know that death is the price to pay for our country’s freedom. Their courage to fight probably equals more than all of the citizens’ in the United States combined. By fulfilling their duties with honor, the soldiers have gained all of my gratitude.

Nothing great will ever be achieved without determination. All soldiers understand this fact and that is why they never give up. They continue to fight even when the chances of winning look pitiful. If the other army happens to have more enhanced weapons or a bigger team, our soldiers don’t become cowardly but toughen up. Blood might be drawn or bones might get broken but they still move on with ease. Nothing and I mean nothing can diminish their spirits to join the fight. When they begin, it’s like they are signing an invisible agreement that states: I will either battle until this duel is over or die trying. Working together to do everything in their power to win, the soldiers prove that all the training they received wasn’t wasted on quitters.

Soldiers must sacrifice a great deal of things to work toward the ultimate goal of freedom. They have to miss important events in their children’s lives and don’t get to celebrate holidays with their families. What kind of food do you think they get to eat? I can guarantee you that it isn’t a five star meal. Their clothes aren’t that wonderful looking either. They probably have tears, dust, and mud all over them. Receiving care packages from generous U.S. citizens that contain sweet chocolate, tasty food, and fashionable clothing make the soldiers not regret giving up all of these things in the first place. They realize that to sacrifice what they are for what they could become, which is heroes, is worth more than anything in the world.

The soldiers of America, above all other people, pray for peace, for they must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war. That is why I am setting away my thanks this Thanksgiving for all of them who are still fighting and also for the ones that we have lost. One day out of the year isn’t enough to show our appreciation for the courage, determination, and sacrifices that these people are required to bear. From watching the news, I now realize that I am blessed to be an American citizen. Our country is free while others are either controlled by the government or dictators. The only reason for this is obvious: the soldiers. I can comfortably and honestly admit that I support everything they are trying to accomplish by fighting in these wars.
