Barbara, Queen of the forest.
The man could not stop looking at her for one instant. Her hair he longed to caress. Her lips he wished to kiss. She was lovely. She smiled all the time as they crossed the field to the house. To him she was the warmth of the sun and the light as well. All roads lead to Barbara.
"May I ask who you are?" said Barb, politely.
"Sir" said the man.
"And my name is Barbara, I am pleased to have met you."
When they arrived at the house and went through the front door they found Emily and Steven hanging upside down from the rafters.
"I found a man." said Barbara
They paid no attention.
"I intend to marry her." said Sir.
"You what?" said Barbara, Emily and Steven.
"Be my wife, Barberry." He had gotten on his knees now.
"bara," she corrected him, "It's Bar...bara."
She looked at him down there. He had a hat, a yellow hat turned up at the back and sides, with a cream band, a silky red shirt and a green padded silk jacket, a purple pair of pants and shoes that looked to be made of a furry blue animal. And he was holding out a ring.
"Sir, I hardly know you. I can not just marry you.No"
"But I have a castle." Sir was adamant.
"I have a forest."
"I noticed. If we were to marry, I could maybe, build my castle in your forest. Marry me."
"This is all a bit sudden, do you not agree,I did not even know you existed when I woke up this morning. No, I can not marry you, Sir"
"Marry me, Barbara, you saved me and I want only to be nearer and nearer to you as each moment passes. I want to care for you and make you feel the love I feel when I look upon your face. Can you not see the pure joy that spreads across my face as I speak?"
Sir held his position, one knee on the ground, one hand out, with a ring in it, his face reflected an excruciating joy, he was so taken by this pretty little stranger.
"As long as I can be the Queen." She had her hands on her hips now.
"You can." If his smile was not already enormous it had now become positively huge. His face glowed. A maniacal happiness pervaded his essences.
"Now come with me and I will show you where to put your castle."
