A lesson from the events on 9/11: Remember |
Remember Nine Eleven We are America, the home of the free and the brave We vote, we choose, we can worship, or not. We value our independence. We speak out loud, educate our children, our women, our girls. Even the poor can acheive their dreams. We cannot understand why we are not loved by the world. But there are those told how to think, what to do who to worship, and how. Taught to obey, or not taught at all. Told who to believe and who to be, dependent on the whims of their leaders but also dependent on each other. They are taught that America is the reason they are not free. Until we understand what it is like to live in fear of our neighbors, our leaders, ashamed of our people, our race, our gender, without dignity, without a voice, without the education to understand other nations, without choice, with unrelenting religion, without the peace to walk outside our front door unafraid, we will never believe it can happen to us. Remember, we are not an island. We are not immune to fear. We are not entitled to peace. We are not alone on this Earth. We are citizens of the world We are their neighbors and they are ours. Without this understanding, we will remain the object of their discontent. Remember nine eleven. SWPoet 40 Lines Revision above. Original version below. She said Remember 9/11-not the tragedy itself, but the fact that we aren't immune to terrorist attacks and we have to know this can and will happen again. (paraphrased quite a bit but this is the gist of the comment. ) To read more about Josephine Harris, here are some links. http://911research.wtc7.net/cache/wtc/analysis/theories/acfd_miraclecompany_6.ht... http://genealogytrails.com/main/sept11.html |
