Structure, Sound and Silence
I could hear the thumping. I thought about galloping horses.
Then strange noises came, like a wild howling in the night.
I thought about cats or cursing squirrels. I stared at the box
fan in the window. I could look through to the rustling leaves.
A fabulous steed with a shining night atop. The ancient
shield beaten. Clashing steel and creaking joints thumping.
The horse charging panting. Some wilderness of broken
words spoken in a whisper. A woman gasps; then a deep
silence. For a moment there is no thought, impenetrable
              meaning in the darkness.
Freely given a life is changed; A fabulous steed a
triumphant knight. Locked in passionate sleep, they serve
their nature well. The breeze is a blessing from long ago.
So many will not listen. A nation lie sleeping: curled
              blindly in the darkness.
