What do you do when "I do." turns into "I don't?"
“For However Long We Wish to be Together.”

I was so caught up in loving you,
That maybe I didn’t see you,
Until the realization of your clarity,
Wounded me-
And tore my heart out,
laying it so carefully at my feet.

You hid who you were,
So carefully,
Almost so fully,
That for two years,
You were only what you wanted me to see.

But to others,
You were something else,
Something that made me wonder,
Why did you even want to be with me?
Till death do us part is a long time,
A serious vow,
That you left in shambles,
Like the sheets of his bed,
When you decided you should return to me.

Should the entire fault be rested on me?
I loved so blindly,
And eventually,
I loved you a little too much,
For your comfort.

But it hurts to ponder,
That you didn’t think I would try to satisfy you.
That you couldn’t request of me,
Something a little different.

Did you think I would shrink away,
In disgust?
Or is not having a penis,
My only fault in the matter?

But I’m so caught up by loving you,
That I’m not sure if I could even walk away.
I need you to tell me,
That you’re lying,
You’ve never loved me;
That I’ll never be enough,
To satisfy anyone.

This way,
I can succumb to being nothing.
I can break, and stay broken.
I can fall and never get up.

For however long, we wish to be together.
You liked that line.
I should have known then,
That you didn’t mean forever.
