A short story about my feelings for my friend and how I feel.
                                             Invisible
                                             By: Kat

As she watched the scenes unfold in front of her, her friend from school, a senior, came from behind and wrapped his arms around her.  Here you are  he laughed  With you wearing all these black clothes I couldn’t see you in the darkness of the auditorium.  He smirked with a smile spanning from ear to ear.  Dork.  She laughed in reply. He released her and took his place by her side with a script in hand. They were stage crew in the 2008 production of  Hello Dolly  in which it was his last year on crew. They met the year before in a similar manner, he was stage crew, her a musical cast member. They began talking back stage during practice, and became fast friends, chatting between scene changes and times she needn’t be on stage.

She found his friendship priceless, even comforting, and thought of him as a brother. Finally, a friend who could understand, listen and be a playmate all at once. She had found each character in every one of her friends, but not all together at once, or in a large quantity. Now matter how bad his life became, she could almost always expect to be shown love from him, any small amount of affection she would need she would find in his arms.

But then the day came that he found  Her , his beloved mate. He wasted no time in proposing, and now engaged the girl worries that he’ll leave her for good and never come back. He is supportive as usual, but something about this new intrusion into this piece of her perfect world is unsettling to her. She loves him to death and beyond, and hopes that he isn't mistaking this other person for the love of his life. She doesn't want him to end life as his father.

His father, angry and distraught with his life, harps on his son for no reason, only because he is unhappy. His love of his life divorced him and left him to raise his child under his care, and they fought back and forth about who he would live with and who would care for him. The girl is afraid her friend is going down the same path, but afraid to bring it up because it is his life and he refuses inspect her suspicions and worries further due to the fog of love in his mind.

She does not want to see him miserable or emotionally ruined, because it would ruin her as well. After all, she is the emotional one in this relationship not him, he is her rock, and to him she clings for life. If she would shatter, it would send her into oblivion, a world of nothing. He tries to settle her mind, by telling her that everything will work out, but she knows deep down it will be their relationship to suffer when he has gone away.

So in disgust, she loathes his mate, not the person herself, but the thing she represents. She is the symbol of him leaving, and his only reason of moving away...to be with her. She hates the fact that his mate will take him away, so far that she can not follow, and that will leave her alone, all alone, in the darkness. She feels as if the new intrusion is taking his mind off her and making her feel as if she matters little. As if she herself is actually becoming invisible.
