music of a drummer standing tall through the cloud of differences
just something i wrote.... it might seem a little weird or silly or at least not very good, but what can i say, i try ;)

btw its wrote from the perspective of the drummer in a rock band

nervous creeps in your fingers
they told you with a shun
you can't be a star!
your only five foot one

the differences they pointed out
they haunt you to this day
the girl is into drums?
they said nuhuh, no way

nobodys there for you but yourself
you started to think
but hold on tight dear,
before your cheeks turn pink

look to the boys, they're there for you
they know what you can be
they're cheering for you in the crowd
close your eyes and you will see

your eyes start closed
reevaluate your surroundings
take a deep breath,
and let your heart keep pounding

open up your hesitation
crumble it in bravery
prepare for cares to meet the air
as your body relinquishes in savory

start off the rhythm
with the legendary clicks
one-two-three-four
soon be one with the sticks

wait for the guitar,
the leader of the band
then the strings start strumming
its your turn to make a stand

like a second sister
or instinct by your word
arms are flying round and round
like an invisible bird

the road of few many take
standing by your side
those crazy enough to stand by you
in your band with little pride

in those few moments to think
with limbs all on their own
the hours and hours spent practicing
have really helpful shown

think of your friends
the ones held most dear?
or of your boyfriend in the crowd
front seat, so very near

family loving every move
you took to get this far
but no, perhaps the drum lessons
that once made you a star?

never never
you tell yourself
how to think
back to that self

when you, a young lassie
back at a piano, what a start
were struggling with the keys
to hold them on your part

from the very very beginning
never had you thought
youd go through jr and high school
how did you make this shot?

loving drumsticks as a sister
no, more as a twin
making the way through school
always would you win

the boys think
oh, shes a girl
can she make it?
not even a whirl

but you stand up mighty tall
unlike the girl they saw
stronger, bolder, braver
appreciation is your law

now you've hit the solo
your mind wanders back to beat
flashing round you hear the crowd
and they cant stay in their seat

now you realize
the end has come
with your final hit
the splash never done

the boys of old standing
cheering you on quite loyal
they love you, don't you see?
you showed them heat and toil

Don't let that hold you down
the love keeps coming, never done
no matter your different any way,
not even if your five foot one.

people always dont see the drummer, but the drummer sees out. Such as myself, hopefully I'll be like the drummer in my poem one day. :) the guitarist is the most outgoing, the leader usually with the voice to sing, showing the others to the next phrase. the bassist is the backup kindof, the streamline that balances high pitch from low. the pianist or instrumentalist adds the flavor like in a meal to give different colors of sound. but the drummer....they have to keep the beat and hold the whole song together. so you out there that say drumming is easy, all you do is hit stuff.....i got a bit to say to you. Lol. Every drummer plays differently, with a different feel. I cant explain it. your one with the sticks and drums, yet you do four or more different things at one time.

without the drummer there is no band!
