TOGETHER

although we start apart
because of love, we stay together
catching the autumn breezes
down through the ages

each successive generation
finds warmth and friendship like us

growing in our separate yet together lives
having passed through fire
into the future we go
journeying along the road
keeping neither left nor right

laughing helps to lighten the load
many are the obstacles that we face
none of us are immune

over the years together we’ve stayed
putting each other first

quarrelling, yes there was some
rectified we went to bed
