A snapshot of a moment in time - Winter is upon us in New Zealand |
One One time on the clock – 8.00am ish One massively bright neon flash filled and lit up the house One moment of seconds waiting, waiiitting, waiiittting, waaaaiiiiiiittting One thunnnnnnnnnnnderous rumble that shook the very foundations of the house. I waited for more – because I love a good thunderstorm I waited - but there was no more I waited for almost half an hour – but there was no more I waited all snuggled up warmly in bed One wintry blast of rain lashed the house One wintry gust of strong wind tried desperately to blow the trees over One wintry second later silence One wintry moment later the clouds parted to reveal the brilliantly bright blue cold looking sky A different household – a different scene A different person, my sister Tiny, – she dislikes the storm A dog cowers beside her – shaking in anticipation of the thunderous blast to come A different scene as they both try to comfort each other One pale watery sun tries to warm One black wintry cloud sneaks up One frigidly freezing cold blast of rain One warm yellow flame springs forth from the hearth I have a warming first cup of coffee I feel my sister, miles away, having a warming first cup of coffee I arise to start my day working on the computer writing a poem about one I hear my sister, miles away, climbing back into bed One pale wintry sun has gone One house that is warming to the fire in the hearth One frigidly freezing cold blast of rain lashes the roof and the windows One massively bright neon flash filled and lit up the house ……….
