wrote about my children
It's not always easy,
Things never go my way,
The little things in life,
Gets to me the most,
My little boy,
So sweet and true,
Four years old,
Sitting on Santa's knee,
Asking for tractors,
Not shedding a tear.

My baby girl,
Six years old,
Calls from a boy,
Talking bout their day,
Asking when they can play,
The look in her eyes,
The smile on her face,
When she looks at you,
Says momma he's only a boy.

My oldest little girl,
Seven years old,
Dreams so big,
Reaching the sea,
All for that spotlight,
Up on that stage,
Working so hard,
For the perfect grades,
Always going around,
Asking the questions in her head.

The little things,
Matter the most,
On the way to town,
Kids fighting in the back,
Running late for school,
Having to look for shoes,
Momma my hair has to look just right,
I can't seem to find my hat.

Working together on homework,
Making sure its spelled just right,
The words they say,
When something is done,
Makes you laugh,
The looks they give you,
When they know they're in trouble.

It's the little things,
That mean the most,
The things never to be forgotten,
Their first words spoken,
For the many long hours awake,
From their first steps,
To riding their bikes,
Many runny noses,
To making so much noise.

These are the things,
That get to me the most,
From their scraped up knees,
To the stitches above the eye,
From playing make believe,
To thinking they could fly,
Their wet sloppy kisses,
And the gentle loving hugs,
Saying I love you mommy,
To I am so sorry.

These are the things,
That forever will remain,
Deep inside my heart,
For what more can I be,
But to be their mommy,
To stand back and watch,
As they learn to go on their own,
To help them up when they fall,
To let them be all that they can,
To give them hope when all else fails.

These are the things,
That matter the most,
They're growing up so fast,
Why can't it just last,
I can always remember,
All that's in the past,
For now we're moving on,
Making plans for later,
Laughing together,
Trying to make it last.
