Bits of unfinished things.
[first verse]
Push me, push me,
I dare you.
Push me, pull me,
I dare you.
Pull me, pull me,
I dare you.

[last verse]
Push me, push me,
I dare you.
Pull me, pull me,
I dare you.
Push me - pull you,
You're coming down too.

(Inspired by something my English teacher said.)

Peel away the layers
Expose my soul
Hard and raw and unprotected
Tame like a newborn foal.

(Inspired by a piece of grass.)

'Girl appears to be offline.'

I sigh. Great. Right when I need her.

"Are you hiding?"

No reply. Shit. I take a deep breath, and start typing.

--

'Boy has sent you an offline instant message.'

I clicked onto the window with a smile.

"Boy sent (24/12/2008, 17:53):
Are you hiding?
Boy sent (24/12/2008, 18:04):
I’m going to do it. Today. You don’t know what I’m capable of. You won’t believe me. But I am. I’m going to do it. Tonight. Before you can stop me, so don’t try. Roll your eyes all you want – you don’t know what I’m capable of.
Boy sent (24/12/2008, 18:06):
12 Hidewood Lane.
Boy sent (24/12/2008, 18:08):
Goodbye lover…"

I sat in shock for a second, then sprinted out of the house, not even stopping to put a coat on over my pyjamas.

I ran to the address. All this time, he was so close. I could hardly see through the heavily falling snow. Or was that tears, making my vision so blurry?

My bare feet skidded on the snow as I turned into the front garden of number 12. On pure instinct, I headed slowly through the side gate, to the back garden.

The creak of taut wet rope confirmed what I had already realized, yet refused to believe.

(Inspired by a true story. They are yet to be named, if they will be at all.)
