He had always loved her but was this the right way to tell her?
She left work that evening with the feeling as though she was being watched. It was an eerie feeling and she didn’t like it at all. As she got to her car she took a quick look around but saw no one. She quickly unlocked her door and as the light inside came on, glanced into the back seat, she always did that, can’t be too safe these days.

As she drove off, he stepped out from behind the pillar he had been watching her from. He wondered to himself if she was the right one. Judging from the photos he had and from memory he was sure he had not made a mistake and chosen the wrong woman. Sure she had changed a little; after all it had been at least twenty five years. Still he wanted to make sure.

The next day as he took his now normal position behind the pillar, he watched as the man he sent in walked into the corner store where she worked. After a few moments he came out and straight to him. He said: “yep, her name is Karen. Now can I have my five bucks”? Allen was so excited he had trouble getting the money from his pocket. He handed the other man five dollars and said “thanks” as he walked away. Allen was sure he would spend it on booze but that didn’t matter to him. He was positive it was her! It had to be she couldn’t look that much like her and have the same name, live in the same town, drive the same car and work at the same place and not be. Finally, he thought, after all the searching I have found her.
Karen went into work that day with the same feeling that she was being watched. All day long she kept looking out the window to see who it was. She was beginning to get scared. That night after her shift she asked one of the men to walk her to her car and make sure she got away safe. As she drove off she waved to him and told him thank you.

Allen stood watching in disbelief. How could he be so close and unable to get to her? He had to come up with a different plan, and he did. The next day Karen got an email from Allen. All it said was “is that you”?
Karen was so excited to get that email she completely forgot about the person watching her at work. She quickly sent him an email confirming it was her and that she was surprised to hear from him. Their correspondence continued for a week or so until they felt comfortable with each other again. After all it had been more than twenty five years.

Karen found herself at work daydreaming about Allen. She didn’t know why after the way he treated her. Still she thought of him and fanaticized about meeting him again.

She had a rough day and Allen knew that, he was watching the whole time. Her shift end was rapidly approaching and the closer it got the more nervous he became. He was like a school boy on the first day of school. Finally the moment arrived. Karen came out the door and headed for her car, as usual. She had a smile on her face that made Allen melt. He loved her smile, always had. Just for a split second he stood there in awe of the beauty he was looking at. In that second she turned and looked at him. She was clearly shocked to see him and mad. In her startle she jumped a little and dropped her purse. As she bent to pick it up, he walked over to her.

He was desperately trying to stay cool and not show any emotion but she saw right through that. She always knew what he was thinking. Allen said “can I give you a hand”? Karen glared up at him and said “no! And what the hell are you doing here”? With no time to reply she stood and slapped his face as hard as she could. That stung a lot! He was debating as to weather or not this was such a good idea when he realized she had a hint of a smile on her face again. “You deserve that” he said as cool as he could. He was still so in love with her he would walk to the ends of the earth just for that slap. It was less than he deserved and he knew it.

She looked him square in the eye and said “well! What the hell are you doing here”? Allen said “we need to talk. Can I buy you a cup of coffee”? She couldn’t believe her ears. As her mind raced for an answer that would send him away, she struggled within because she wanted him to stay. As she looked at him all the old feeling came rushing back in. she quickly turned away, she didn’t want him to see her tears. As she turned he grabbed her arm and said “its ok, I have cried for years over you”. She slapped him again. This time not quite as hard which he was grateful for.
Karen, after much persuasion, agreed to meet him for coffee at the coffee shop just down the street. It was a twenty four hour place that had good coffee and she was tired and could use a cup before going home. They went in together and ordered some coffee and found a secluded little table in the corner and sat down. Karen began the dialogue with “Okay, what is so important that you had to come here and scare the hell out of me and ruin my night”! She had to play it tough otherwise he would have her in the palm of his hands, and that was not going to happen! His reply sent a shiver down her spine. “Karen, I’m sorry for what I did and I have spent the last twenty five years regretting it and hating myself every day for it”.

Could he still love her? Karen’s mind was reeling. She didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. She had never really gotten over him but was moving on with her life. She sat there for a second lost in the moment. It was a good thing she was sitting down or she would have fell to the floor. “No”, she said, “I will not let you back into my life this way”. She knew she was fighting a losing battle. She was already moist just sitting this close to him again. She was beginning to wonder if she had the strength to tell him again to go away.

They sat and talked for a couple hours before they both realized how long they had been sitting there. As they got up to go, Allen asked if he could see her again tomorrow night after she finished work. By this time she was beyond the anger and only wanted to stay with him. Of course she couldn’t do that, she had a husband at home waiting for her and she told herself she loved him, but that was not for thinking about right now. She agreed and they walked out to their cars. As they walked they decided on a more discreet place to meet. A café Allen knew of about two or three miles up the road. They had rooms to dine in and served good food all night long.
All night restaurants were common this close to the freeway and he wanted to be alone with her. They sealed the date and before she could turn to get into her car, Allen took her by her shoulders and pulled her in and kissed her. Just a peck, he didn’t want to be disrespectful. As he pulled away, she grabbed his head and pulled him down and really kissed him. As her tongue passed his lips she could feel his manhood shifting as he instinctively thrust his hips into her. She could also feel her own loins getting wetter by the second.

She wanted him now! This time she had the control to push him off though and gently kiss the moisture from his mouth. As she turned to get into her car she said “don’t think this means you get me, you don’t. We are just having dinner and that’s it”! He agreed and adjusted himself so as to be able to get to his car without pain. They both drove off into the night with expectation of the next days meeting. What would come of this she wondered as she drove home to her husband? “Ah crap”, she said out loud, “back to the real world”. And she drove the rest of the way home in silence.
