Tribute to my father
              " To Dad "

My father was such a special man,
like most dads are to us.
He was larger than life in many ways,
    kind, gentle, and tough.

He was good with his hands,
    built most anything.
  Loving, trusting, a real man,
he was so much a human being.

He could ride a plow horse,
    and make her jump.
  A simple man who could
    find treasures in junk.

  He could hunt, fish,
and he taught me them all.
  He did most anything
you could do with a saw.

A carpenter, farmer, a father for sure
    the best he could be.
A hero, teacher, lover of right,
he was all those things to me.

But this day I wrote this down,
    because I miss him so.
Too many years since he passed.
too few to let him go.

  And 45 years of mine,
    a father I've been too.
His advice was always on time,
    the way he always could.

Cause dad had a way with words,
    to help with your needs.
  Like simple farmers, virgin land,
    his words were like seeds.

And though he is gone for good,
    his spirit still lives on.
Because he lived life to the full,
and left it to his son.
