Addictions

What's an addiction?
Many think it has to do with drugs.
Doesnt always.

When taught about drug addictions,
Dont tell of other addictions.
Thought Id never do drugs,
Know to resist them,
And do.
But Im nabbed by em,
Ever since 4th grade.

Started doing 2 habits duing a test,
Thinking I could stop.
But like a drug addie,
Couldn't.
Ever.
Never.
Not-in-this-Lifetime.
Cant.

Then a few yrs later,
Was caught by something worse.
Cant escape.
Dont want to.
Tho I know I should.

Everyday I'm seen with my addiction.
No one protests.
How can they?
Dont know what it is.
Its disguised from teachers.
Have no friends.
Want em.
Drug prevents me.
Never get away from it.
Not ever.

Sometimes I feel its claws slipping,
And order a distractor,
But it comes too late.
Always does,
Always has.
Always will?
Always back at it when it gets here.

Dad says if it looks like a dog,
Acts like a dog,
Then its a horse.
Didnt understand what it meant.
Now do.
That's like my drug.
