I go to a quiet spot in nature
On a day I wrestle with my psyche
Trying to control as fast,
It travels.
As a child turning around
To make themselves stagger like
A drunk they want to feel so much.
I set in to turn my mind off.
It used to be so easy.
When I was a child
A friend and I would
Lay in the covered grass, our
Handmade flowered necklace
Held together by the stems.
Our arms crossed behind our heads
We look to the clouds to give us
Visions of beauty we did not see
In our concrete jungle of the slums.
We had to search like wild animals
To the the beauty around us.
Sometimes we saw beauty and art in
Broken pieces but when found
The beauty taught us more than if it lay right in front of us.
The hunter in us feeling proud when we lay quiet
The billowing clouds painted a poet’s muse to use at our will.
As children, we had an unlimited clear mind free to use..
As fearless creators before the words can’t, couldn’t
Wouldn’t, shouldn’t became our vocabulary.
