Sleep Savior

I tried covering my eyes with both hands.

My eyelids were shut.
I couldn’t stop my eyes from looking at my worries.
I tried to have my barriers;
My guards can’t scare them back into my mind
And here they were
Here they still are
My fears and worries
They torment me consistently.
Tremors try to release the fear.
My body sweats and I want to scream.

I hear drums only because… I’m
Wishing I were banging my head against the wall.
Bang against something hard to get them out!

They are trapped
Nothing can shake them
Except maybe for blood
I wish my sweat were blood

Blood is thicker
It carries more substance

As this though comes
It is attacked by the good that lies beside me
Connecting with my heart

My mind reacts
My hands fall
Wiping the tears from my face
And sleep, once again
Saves me from death
