I wrote this about my step mom when she left us. |
Just another pretty face falling short of God's grace hiding behind a mask of perfection, of truth. Just another pretty face walking out of my heart's door the door slams, the blood splatters, glass shatters. It cannot be fixed. Just another pretty face is how i'll remember you: the one who gave me hope when i thought all was lost, the one who stayed up late as i emptied my conscience, the only one who believed me just to tell everyone else, the only one who could take the place of a mother once unfaithful. You were just another pretty face leaving a child alone to fight to try to keep her sanity, to lick her wounds and move on. Not the only pretty face who's broken my heart, who's cursed, hated and accused me, who's stabbed me in the back. Not the only pretty face to leave her child behind so someone else could pick up and face what she couldn't herself. She's just another pretty face who will shatter your heart in too many pieces to repair, who will drive you insane, who will tell your secrets, who will pretend to be all you need and then leave when you need her most. Just another pretty face who fell short of God's grace. Just another pretty face in need of forgiveness. Just another pretty face never to be forgotten. Just another pretty face to throw stones at this glass house. |
