Human connection to the Earth...
A green plant, dulling in the sun
Grown reaching towards the sky
Yet with a perimeter all around me
My smooth, long, tongues of life
Surfacing from soil
My newly grown extremities
Taking place of my brown,
Wilting,
And once living green
Open as if to greet you into my world
Yet protected by my short,
Sharp,
Daggers of the earth
Grown with age, and busting with youth
Thriving as if too small for this world,
But too big for my pot
Each one of my petals separate
Yet part of my whole
One whole fortress of unspoken age
Covered,
Clouded by nature’s dusty film of time
My everlasting appearance of impenetrable force
Proving my worth,
Proving my wisdom,
Resting alone in my solitude
Dry as if wanting water,
But not needing it
While the sun breaks down upon me
Then all at once with the shadows and air
I seem to dance alone
But all at once go back to my calm rest.
