Sinuous Passions

You slither through my life

Like a snake in the garden.

Your scales, body armour,

Glisten in the gracious moonlight.

Your sable eyes are cold, menacing.

And as you open your mouth

To expose a forked tongue,

I ask myself,

"How could I love such a thing?"

But when you smile

And silently hiss my name,

It is then I realize:

I am a serpent, too.
