I wrote this poem to get over a guy that I had liked for four long years
For a month now I’ve tried
Tried to put you out of my mind
But nothing works
Not even telling myself that you’re not the one

I’ve tried to avoid you
But you’re everywhere
You’re in my head
And in my heart

It may sound like I still love you
But I can’t
You’re not the kind of person
That I ever want to be around

Even though my heart longs for you
I can’t let “us” happen
Even if there’s no chance of that
I just can’t

My love was based on an infatuation
Nothing more, nothing less
That’s all that it was
But now I can’t shake that feeling

My body still responds to the sight of you
My heart begins to thump louder than ever
My hands shake uncontrollably
And my eyes try not to stare at you

What am I going to do?
I can’t wait for summer
So I can put some distance between us
Even if you still don’t notice
