A web of vibrant color

All pieces of the past

Stitched, sewed, embroidered

A treasure made to last



A green square of calico

Once part of mama’s dress

Blue, checkered corduroy

That was my papa’s vest



A piece of old worn denim

Beside the rose pink block

That, not so very long ago,

Was my summer frock



A rectangle of satin

Once worn with frilly lace

A memory of sis’s wedding

I still see her joyful face



All this pieced together,

Two loving hands have built

Our family’s past and heritage

Wrapped in the folds of a quilt
