This is what I feel it would be like to hang out with poet laureate Ted Kooser.
HANGIN’ W/ MR. KOOSER

Sitting on the porch with the old man.
Drinking tall glasses of lemonade and staring at the abysmal blue beyond.
We spoke of the poetic beauty of life,
Good and bad.
His chair rocks slightly as he delves into his mental archives to top off the vocality I just posed.
Soon, traded monologue gives way to relaxed silence.
I finish my drink and bid adieu to the legend of this time.
Darkness intrudes as the daylight weans away from the night.
I get in my car and travel down the dusty road to my destiny.
