Dreams Fade

Dreams fade as quickly as they come,

Shattered upon the harsh surface of reality,

Ground away till even the joy of these dreams are gone,

Leaving only a vast emptines within ourselves,

A hopelessness that cries out from one's very soul,

Where the splinters of our dreams taunt and mock us,

Pricking one's heart until the rivers of loneliness flow,

And we vow, never again, to dream.
