Which among earth's creatures is the most savage? |
A congress of the earth’s animal prey discusses which predator is most savage. The deer offers, “The wolf, who chooses to slay fawns as easy meals; deer herds they ravage.” “Pish-posh,” the assemblage shouts in reply. “Why, the grizzly bear is more ferocious by far.” Heads nod in unison. Then, “Aye, grizz are fierce. Their attacks are atrocious, “but for savagery none compares to cats. In Africa lions, leopards terrorize, while tigers rule all in Asia. So, that’s two continents where prey they brutalize.” A seal asks, “What about the polar bear, the shark or killer whales? In the ocean world, these predators prevail everywhere.” Heated arguments erupt … what commotion! A mouse takes the floor. “Gentle animals, you’re forgetting the most savage of all the world’s creatures. From ancient cannibals to modern times, he alone has the gall “to war on his own species as his prey. He wantonly will slaughter his own kind close to extinction, causing disarray worldwide, reason and mercy left behind. “Throughout history he’s conducted many genocides, killing millions not for food, but for hatred. Savagery? He’s plenty! With cruelty beyond belief he’s imbued.” “Yes, yes. Man is the most savage of all animals, for he and he alone will kill not for food or mate, but he will fall into a killing frenzy to fulfill “his disdain for the religion, the look, the culture of others of his own kind.” It was voted upon, then put in the book of Nature: The most savage is Mankind.
