A Man picks up a Hitchhiker and is never the same, literally (Flash Fiction)
          Mike Thompson drove south.
He was somewhere between Charlotte and Columbia when the man appeared. When it is said he "appeared", that is truly what had happened. Mike had looked down and then back up and there he was. Mike had had a true feeling of generousity. One he would regret. In an odd sort of way.
The man himself was a mix of a nerd and gruff. He wore glasses and had a ponytail. The most uneasy aspect was the scar the ran across his left eye. When he entered the car he gave a nod.
"Where ya headed?" Mike asked almost if by instinct.
"As far as you will take me" He said in a raspy voice.
"I live in Columbia. Is that okay?"
          The man just nodded again
"Do you have a name perchance?"
          "Louis, Louis Garman"
The next few hours, the man sat in silence. It was an uneasy silence, only broken by buzz of the radio.
It nearly three hours before the two travelers finally came within range of Columbia.
"We are almost there." Mike told the stranger
"Good" It was the first thing Louis had said since telling his name.
That was when things got very strange. Mike was concentrating on the road making sure not to miss the exit. Then all he saw was a blur. Following it was an uneasy feeling in his stomach. The car stopped on the side of the road. Mike had not pushed the brake pedal. He felt around and found that the door was on the side of him. He tore the glasses off and found that he was staring at himself.
"Isn't this your stop?" His body told him. Mike just stared a second and then got out without a word and just stood stunned.
          Louis Garman drove south.
