A little boy gets stung by a bee while on a weekend fishing trip with his father.
The morning sunlight was too bright for Jordan’s eyes.  The seven your old boy was used to his father waking him at daybreak for their fishing trips but that didn’t make waking up any easier.  The little boy’s freshly awoken eyes squinted until a sudden prick from his hook widely opened them.  Jordan wiped the blood on his shirt and then licked his finger.
Jordan loved fishing with his dad on the weekends.  It was their only time together.  Sure, they played ball and went to games but their fishing trips were different.  They were special because no one, not even his mother, was allowed to go.
“Jordan, how many you think we’ll catch today?”
“Who knows?”  Jordan pricked himself again.  “Ouch!  These hooks really hurt dad.”
“I’ve shown you hundreds of times how to do it.  Watch again.”
His father took his pole and showed Jordan how to hook the worm without being stuck.
“Ok, I think I’ve got it now.  Thanks.”  Jordan smiled.
“We’ll see.”  His dad flashed him a smile while putting a worm on his own pole.
By nine, they still hadn’t caught anything.  Jordan pulled out a juice box from the cooler and grabbed his dad one too.
“Dad, put the minnows on.  We aren’t having any luck with these worms.”
“It’s still early.  Give it a few more hours and then we’ll see.”
By two o’clock, they still hadn’t gotten anything.
         “How about now, dad?”
         “Alright Jordan, get the minnows.”
When Jordan turned to get the minnows, a swarm of bees scared him.  A bee stung Jordan on the same finger that was pricked earlier.  He screamed and began to cry from the shock and pain.  Jordan’s dad rushed him to the truck.  He pulled out the first-aid kit and broke the cold pack to keep the swelling down.
“Keep this on your finger while I run and get our things.  Mom will know what to do when we get home.”  He kissed Jordan on the forehead.  “It’ll be alright, son.  Stop crying.”
This comforted Jordan some but it still didn’t ease the pain.
They were half way home when his dad noticed Jordan’s face and hand were twice the size they should be.  He immediately called his wife.
“Honey, can you meet us at the emergency room.  Jordan was stung by a bee and his face is swollen.”
“What!?  Oh my God!  Is he alright?”
“Yeah, he’s fine.  He’s only whimpering a little now.  We were on our way home but his face is swollen and he was stung on his finger.  So I think it’s better to take him to the hospital.”
“Okay, I’m leaving now but let me talk to him first.”
                Jordan got on the phone.
         “Hello.”
         “Baby, are you alright?”
“It hurts mommy.  It really, really hurts.”
“I know sweetie.  Don’t worry.  Everything will be all right.  I’ll be waiting for you at the hospital.  I love you.”
“Okay mommy.  Love you too.  ”
When they arrived at the hospital, the nurses rushed him in.
The doctor examined Jordan and then gave him a shot.
“It seems to me that Jordan is allergic to bees.”  The doctor chuckled to lighten the tension.  “Give him this prescription until the swelling goes away and of course if symptoms get worse, be sure to bring him back.  The swelling should disappear in a few days.”  He then turned to Jordan.  “It’s nothing to worry about.  Lots of kids are allergic to bees and even some adults.  You’ll be just fine.”
A few days later, the swelling went away just as the doctor said and Jordan was back to normal.
