A writing exercise that suprised me!
The chair approached me and said ‘come on sit down’.
I glanced at it barely registering the strangeness of it’s feat.

I paced the room, mind whirring, room spinning, everything in high speed yet not getting anything done.

The chair moved closer, green and cosy, a welcoming smile, eyes concerned. ‘Stop & sit down’ it says again, ‘what you’re doing won’t help.’
I shoot at it a glance of contempt & continue my frustrated mission.

I knock over a glass and kick a book across the room in self-hatred.
The tears begin now, flowing freely, anger burning at my cheeks.

The chair silently sweeps in behind me.
Gently it nudges the backs of my knees,
They buckle as its kindness reaches me, finally.
I sink down into its warm embrace feeling the tension drain from me.
I curl up in its velvety arms and silently I weep.
