Dialogue 500 Entry...a confession in the dentist's chair becomes a life or death moment.
347 Words

"How's the Novocain? Kicking in yet?"

"Uh-huh."

"Good. Now tell me, can you keep a secret?"

"Yure."

"Careful, buddy, you're drooling. Just nod or shake your head. There's something that's been on my chest for so long now, and I just need to tell somebody. My psychiatrist always says that's the best approach. Open wide, now ... anyway, I've been seeing the secretary here behind my wife's back. Well last night, my wife cornered me, caught me off-guard, you know? Started asking me about all the late nights working at the office."

"Oh, no."

"I thought I told you not to speak. You would do best to listen to me; I do have control of your mouth at the moment, so kindly shut it ... that's better ... so the wife slaps me when I can't come up with some good lie. Well before I know it, there I am strangling her. I swear I can't even remember snapping, just wrapping my hands around her neck and then stuffing her body in the garage."

"You sobobavish."

"You won't go telling anyone, right? Oh, look who I'm asking. You've been the quiet type your whole life, and even when you do talk, you can't bring yourself to speak ill of anyone else ... the cops aren't on to me yet, but I'm not sure whether to frame someone else or just leave the country."

"Buck voo."

"My psychiatrist says I have anger problems, that I need to have more patience--and you're trying my patience, Mr. Dawson. So please show me some respect. Do we understand each other? That's better. Stupid, silly man. Isn't it funny, though? You wake up every day just the same, expecting nothing major to happen. The next thing you know, you're sitting in a dentist's chair listening to a confession you try to convince yourself isn't true. But you can't quite push that little nugget of fear from your mind."

"AHHH!"

"Stop screaming."

"AHHHH!"

"Stop screaming, someone will hear you! Don't make me silence you, Mr. Dawson."

"AHHHHH!"

"Stop it, stop it, STOP IT!"
