I started writing 'poetry' just for fun at first ... simply for just that. To see whether I could do it ... in an answer to a challenge set forth by the 100-word Page on a given topic, started by the Mirror Magazine of our Sunday Times in Sri Lanka. And grtadually it became a habit with me, though I admit that my bits of poetry are usually far too long ... and definitely more than 100 words at times, and lacking in rhyme and metre to boot! So in a way, they are all only dogrel by conventional standards ... and I do hope that I got the word 'dogrel' right here, for at the moment, I am barefet of the benefit of MS Word's Spellchecker!
Postscript: Yes, the spellchecker did not approve of 'dogrel' ... It thinks that it ought to be 'doggerel' rather than that! Perhaps it is right, my English spelling being not definitely from the 'top drawer' either!
