POEM FOR CONTEST
“Why Dream”

Sun is shining oh so bright,
No wait it's cloudy and raining.
Birds are singing loud and clear,
No wait there’s nothing I can hear.
What is this, I see what I see but then I blink,
How can this be? Everything has changed with just a wink.
Why is it so hard for me to get a new start?
I guess it’s just so hard to when you’re dreaming with a broken heart.

Running on the beach so fresh and free,
Daydreaming of beaches that are so far,
In the tick of the clock the dream falls apart.
Memories run wild like wolves on the hunt,
What is this now?
Why these dreams I can’t forget?
Every new one I get just falls apart,
That always seems to happen when you’re dreaming with a broken heart.

Push it all aside go on with your life,
Day by day it slowly fades with all the other challenges you have to face.
Family, work, the daily grind, finally you feel as if you’ve left it all behind.
The morning looks good and bright,
The songs of birds fill the air.
Finally the feelings come back to your heart,
I should have listened to words from the wish,
“Give it time, and don’t fall apart."
And you’re wasting your time
When you’re dreaming with a broken heart.
