Rainbow Wishes

The soft and dewey mist
fell on her up turned face
as she searched the heavens
for the glowing rainbow.

Old Pa often told her that on
a certain day in May that
a rainbow’s wish would
surely come to pass.

There she stood upon the hill
looking for the rainbow
through the gentle Spring rain
for she needed a special wish.

She needed to see her love
who stood in a far off land
where she could only travel
on imagination’s wings.

As she saw the colors reaching
high and wide she uttered
her heart felt wish
for her love to come back home.

That was where he found her
as he ran up the hill
to once again hold her
as the dewey mist did fall.
