WALK IN MY SHOES

I know they'll never fit just right,
For one is higher and a little tight,
Accommodating this brace upon my thigh.
But close your eyes and move slowly along,
And hear the birds as they warble a song,
Counting how many by wings that flutter by.

Feel the grass so soft and smooth,
As it tickles your ankles and begins to soothe,
The dreaded fear of being alone and lost.
Then picture the blossoms on a nearby tree,
As the honey-sweet fragrance drifts off so free,
While beside you some petals are gently tossed.

You cannot peek or the spell is broken,
Just hear the sounds that are never spoken.
Then grope for the presence of raindrops refined,
Allowing your subconscious to drift toward the skies.
And now dear friend you've seen through my eyes,
Because though they are open, I am blind.
