Prompt: ABCeDarious styled poem, child-age appropriate

(An ABCeDarius starts with "A" and works its 26 lines down the alphabet, the last line starting with "Z" -- or from Z to A)

I Blame Merriam!

Aardvark and antelopes,
bumble-bees buzzing by,
Cummerbund and cantaloupes
-- Dictionary's dubious prize.

Each individual syllable
fails to earn respect . . .
Google? goggle? giggle?
HUMBUG! (for effect)

It's really quite a wonder,
Jack-o-lantern, squat and knurl,
knit our knowledgeable
listings. (Makes me "wanna hurl"!)

Merriam's responsible!
(No doubt in my mind.)
Only he would add these.
(Papa Webster's too refined.)

Quarrelsome and quintessential
rush off the tongue in knots.
Surely, these are not essential
to communicate our plots.

"Unusual utterances," at best;
"Verbiage most foul," for sure.
Words, as those that follow,
xeric and entrepreneur,

YELL out: Balderdash!
Zany! Farce! Faux! Obscure!

Author's note: Truth be told, I LOVE silly words . . . and silliness! *Wink*
