Sitting on the beach
I squish the cool sand in between my toes.
I look out over the serene water
And sigh.
The loneliness creeps deeper
And the sky is filled with brilliant colors.
Memories of better days fill my mind.
Days of happiness,
Days I fear I shall never see again.
Why can’t all be right in my world?
Like before.
That twisted piece of driftwood is still here
Foretelling all too much.
I stand
I need to get away from here.
Too many painful memories.
If only this beach
Wasn’t my mind.
