Second chapter of Chassit. Pretty short, more to come.
Chapter 2
At first sight, the white robed man that entered Brimdale looked like any ordinary traveler. He moved as if he had spent many sleepless nights traveling. His appearance, however, sharply contrasted the manner in which he staggered along the main road into town. His long black hair reached his shoulders, perfectly trimmed, glimmered in the morning sun. He maintained a constant sort of smirk, his rosy red lips neither frowning nor smiling. The man had a slim figure, yet he had a very distinct muscular build.
As the man in white walked the main street, nobody noticed the odd trinket he wore around his neck. The silver nineteen-pointed star hung from a thin gold chain; some old, arcane symbol was etched upon the star. He almost felt pity for the ignorant people of the village. The took the ancient magic used in everyday life for granted. They had no idea of the destructive potential that their very own enchantments and charms were capable of.
Pitiful that they won’t live to learn their lesson, thought Rathe Sarras, as he kneeled in the middle of Brimdale Square. He placed the nineteen-pointed amulet on the ground, and focused all of his energy on the object, just as his masters long ago taught him. His intense gaze was centered on the small silver amulet, now glowing a bright crimson.
Rathe Sarras said but one word during his entire visit to the village, and that one word would forever end all “normal” days.
The sky instantly darkened to pitch-blackness as he muttered the singe word that in itself carried awesome power.
“Chassit.”
