A bit of a cliche, but it works
I’m warning you now,
It’s such a cliché,
Everything here that I am about to say.
We’ve all heard it once,
Now it’s my turn,
To say it again, but in my own words.
Remember I warned you,
I won’t do it twice,
Sit down and shut up, follow my advice.
Stop reading this stuff,
If you’re so sick of it,
Don’t complain to me of this “been done before” shit.
I’m not in the mood.

My dear friend, Happiness,
Was one of the best,
All things unhappy, she’d put to the test.
When clouds were grey,
She’d think of a game,
To keep my mind off of the cold and the rain.
When kids would tease,
And throw their stones,
She’d hold my chin up all the way home.
When darkness brought creatures,
With red eyes and sharp teeth,
She guarded my bedroom as I would sleep.

As years passed by,
She was seldom seen,
Happiness had gone into retirement, it seemed.
There were no more clouds,
No more creatures, or kids,
Or anything else to do that she already did.
Only new problems,
That she’d never seen,
New situations where she’d never been.
What could she do,
How could she help,
Knowing she’d only be hurting herself?

That’s when it happened,
We knew it was bad,
A battle that Happiness shouldn’t have had.
She had no defence,
She was completely unarmed,
When the one known as Lost Cause inflicted such harm.
She could not stand,
Had no strength to fight,
The ultimate power Lost Cause had that night.
There was no hope,
For Happiness then,
When Lost Cause appeared, it was the end.

As this is the end.
