To you, who have lost a good friend to cancer. |
LITTLE MAN'S LITTLE HANDS By: Rusty Cason Hand in hand we walked as one, my little man and I. I'm scared he said, with swollen face and trying not to cry. He'd never been to school before, never rode a bus. "I'll be good," he said, and then he promised not to fuss. The bus pulled up and then I seen his tiny little tears. I held his hand and hugged him as I whispered in his ear. My heart is always with you son, there's nothing you should fear. Think about my love for you, in times when I'm not near. I spent my life with "little man", he is my son, of course. With his hand in mine he learned to swim and to ride a horse. A good sport while in school, he always tried to do his best. I stood beside him on the day he took his driving test. Like his Dad, he married and he had a family too. Frequently he came to me, to ask me what to do. Show them that you love them son, in each and every way. Love them while you hold them close and here's what you should say. My heart is always with you, there's nothing you should fear. Think about my love for you, in times when I'm not near. I lay here in this bed of mine, my health is truly bad. The cancer is incurable, it makes my family sad. The love and joy I shared with them are with me on this day. While dying has not scared me, oh, I wish that I could stay. He came last night to visit me and sat down by my bed. As I faded off, he held my hand and softly said, My heart is always with you Dad, there's nothing you should fear. Think about my love for you, in times when I'm not near. by : Rusty Cason 11/13/06 |
