falling in love,

A knight in shining armor

Lying naked my guard was down.
The lover came galloping at me
on his white stallion.
A shining knight
with his suit of armor
smiling, whispering love,
but not promising.
His weapon drawn
aiming at my weakest points.

I was not ready for battle
feeling to comfortable, to relax.
We joust, I take the first blow.
Hanging on,
I face you
sitting tall in your saddle
unaffected, ready,
immediately racing towards me again.

I pull your blankets up for cover,
my shield.
Trying to protect my chest,my heart.
Your sword came gleaming in the moonlight
piercing me,
my chest is ripped open
my heart exposed.
I lay wounded.

You have won this battle
and the right
to be seated at the
Knights of the round table
with others who have won,
raising glasses, toasting yourself,
bragging, boasting,
exchanging what strategies were used.
Sharing my defense secrets.

Yes,
you have won this battle.
And I am physically and
emotionally tired
gasping,
lying naked
I am open, unprotected
and
falling in love
