An old cliche, love is in the eye of the beholder.
                   "This Traveler's Delight"

         furrows of fright sowed in her heart
         where he touched her there;
         surely would grow in part
         from some seeds not so fair.
         nourished with her tears
         he would harvest soon
         a black flower, laced with fears,
         that grows by the dark side of the moon.

Lo! A traveling stranger happened by
On a swarthy summer night.
As forest spirits offered a sigh
Into the smoky light,
He heard them pray,
"Behold this forgotten plant if you can,
Withering alongside this roadway."
         "Ah!" exclaimed the journeyman.
         "Permit me to view the delicacy
         Of this esteemed lacework; a lovely face
         Posed, and poised just for me."
Suddenly, lunar vapors parted in a perfect place,
As midsummer magick sparked a merry tune
To light up the gloomy night,
With soft singing sounds from Sister Moon,
A new flower brightened to this traveler's delight.

Whereupon, fairies by early morning's pause,
Witnessed beauty bloom and felt spiritual resonance.
So, with wonder and a compelling cause,
Gossamer wings danced in revelry and reverence.
Flower became known to all who can see;
With loveliness upon her fanciful face,
And with songs of fairy glee,
This beloved weed is Queen Anne's White Lace.

Note: This poetic piece is my own created myth explaining the origin of the flower, Queen Anne's Lace. I included two demonstrations of old classic cliches; beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and a gallant gent rescues a damsel in distress.
