Events depicted happened about ten miles from Tam Ki.
Now With God

Like a curtain falling dusk was coming down dark
Men scurry here and there like ants in a sugar jar
Green trucks careening, speeding to return safely to base
Like lightening and thunder rockets strike the first and last
The road is blocked; road sides deep ditch the only cover
Rolling grenades across the road through the night
Like children playing with explosive terrifying marbles
One rolls to me, I stare and throw it back at them
My scout is hit; the face bleeding, he quits breathing
I cut his throat; break the pen to keep open the wound
Hit his chest; he breathes through the pen once again
Choppers firing, tracers flying it flies smoking to the ground
Another rounds one more goes down before the jets arrive
Like green bees buzzing green tracers firing from North, East and West
The Thud drops fire then flaming falls into the ground
We’re on our own with ammo low, the enemy grows tired
Five hours of ambush now, before the battle breaks
The score is topsy-turvy it’s eight to forty-three
Eight of us died to their forty-three; might as well been me
Scout died in my arms... now with God
