The article talks about Mobile GPRS services. |
Overview This report will focus about the GPRS services. My aim is to have some idea about how to connect to the internet through the mobile phone. I wanted to do such study from long time, but I could not because of the following reasons 1. I don’t own modern mobile that support GPRS 2. The jawwal company don’t allow GPRS service for users with prepaied cards. But the Orange company allow the GPRS services for the bigtalks users with 13 shikel every month. Finally, I decided to have nokia 6610i mobile and buy orange card and subscribe to internet service through the orange company in Palestine. I found that very little people can program my mobile to join in internet, and the orange company operators cant help to much, especially they don’t support my type of mobile, they mainly sell smart phones, so I tried to get the gprs settings from the internet. I realized that the nokia website can send the gprs settings (WAP and MMS settings) to my mobile through sms, by free, and I only have to save them and activate them, so the hardest work finished. The main settings came to a test mobile nokia 6600 from orange company in palestine Orange GPRS settings (WAP): Connection name: orange obex* Data bearer: GPRS Access point name: wap.orange.co.il Username: orange Prompt password: no Password: mobile54 Authentication: normal Home page: http://wap.orange.co.il -------------------------------------- Phone IP address: automatic Primary name server: 0.0.0.0 Secondary name server: 0.0.0.0 Proxy server: 192.118.011.051 Proxy port no: 8080 Orange GPRS settings (Web): Connection name: internet* Data bearer: GPRS Access point name: internet Username: 1234 Prompt password: no Password: **** Authentication: normal Home page: http://wap.orange.co.il ----------------------------------------- Phone IP address: automatic Primary name server: 0.0.0.0 Secondary name server: 0.0.0.0 Proxy server: none Proxy port no: 0 Orange GPRS settings (MMS): Connection name: MMS Data bearer: GPRS Access point name: wap.orange.co.il Username: orange Prompt password: no Password: mobile54 Authentication: normal Home page: http://192.168.220.15/servlets/mms ---------------------------------------- Phone IP address: automatic Primary name server: 0.0.0.0 Secondary name server: 0.0.0.0 Proxy server: 192.118.011.051 Proxy port no: 8080 Message centre number: +97254120032 Settings obtained at mobile 6610i from jawwal company Wap Home page: wap.jawwal.ps Session mode: permanent Gprs access point: wap Ip address: 213.244.118.129 Authentication: normal Login: automatic Username: Password: MMS Setting name: jawwal-mms Home: http://mms.jawwal.ps/servlets/mms Gprs access point: mms Ip address: 213.244.118.129 Authentication: normal Login: automatic Username: Password: My phone type 6610i support configuration for WAP and MMS access point, but not the internet apn. So, it was not possible for me to browse all web sites in the internet. Only I could browse WML and XHTML pages like www.yahoo.com, mobile.msn.com, www.aol.com, google.com/xhtml The only way that was possible to access is through the google proxy google.com/xhtml. I have to go to google.com/xhtml , and search my site and from the search result I go to the web site. After more search, I found that the Opera Mini application assist in browsing all web pages, I downloaded Oper Mini through mobile shop, but I could not download application with it.
