This may be that homeless woman satnding on your street corner...
Cold and lonely,
Lost, here in the night.
Somewhere in the distance
Mad dogs begin to fight.

Laughter echoed
From a window very near,
Sounding as a scream
As it twisted in her ear.

Stars winking brightly
Inside an ebon sky,
Not but aggravation
To her reddened, teary eye.

Liquid, warm and golden
Brewing in her cup,
Melting an ounce of pain
Each time she turns it up.

She lost her gift, her child,
Stolen from her fingers.
Even though her mind is numb
His image always lingers.

One last drink, one more pill
And all the pain a blur,
As one last tear falls to the ground
Death's night closes in around her.
